2025 WEF Equitation Championship presented by Arion Sellier

#TeamArion’s Taylor Cawley & Oki D’Eclipse in the 2024 WEF Equitation Championship.
This year, Arion Sellier had the exciting opportunity to work with the team at Wellington International to present the 2025 WEF Equitation Championship. This demanding competition challenges young riders by eliminating all outside assistance from their trainers for a unique under the lights championship. Riders are required to walk the course, develop their own strategy, and warm up independently, making it one of the most distinctive and prestigious equitation events in the nation.
Forty riders will be invited to compete under the lights in the International Arena and be judged on their execution and style by several top horsemen. Invitations will be automatically extended to riders who have won any USEF Hunt Seat Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Talent Search or WIHS Overall, Hunter Phase, Jumper Phase equitation classes prior to March 21st of any 2025 Winter Equestrian Festival (Premiere-WEF 11), and the 2025 Holiday Series. If there are not forty qualified riders entered, the officials will release an invitation to riders based on their rankings using the Christy Conard standings.
The judging panel will include five to six top horsemen distinguished by management. Each panel will submit a numerical score for Round One and Round Two which will be added to the other panel’s score. One judge will be judging the schooling arena and penalize riders based on their knowledge and application of the USEF Jumper schooling rules EQ108.15 while good horsemanship will be rewarded. A negative one (-1), negative two (-2), zero (0), plus one (+1), or plus two (+2) may be added to the final round one and two scores Round three scores will not be announced.
The forty invited junior equitation riders will compete over fences maximum 3’6” in height and width. The top twelve riders from the preliminary round will be invited back in reverse order based on round one’s scores. Based on the performances in round two, the top four riders will return to the International arena on their mounts for additional testing to determine the 2025 WEF Equitation Champion!
